Wynnum prepares for Centenary, wins the Ipswich Cup again, and Bruce Fleming takes Silver
Wynnum prepares for its 2025 Centenary, wins the Ipswich Cup for a second year, celebrates Bruce Fleming's Silver Medal in Tasmania, and hosts the CAQ Men's Open Golf Singles.
Wynnum Croquet Club Centenary
Wynnum Croquet Club are preparing for their Centenary to be celebrated on 16th February 2025. A small but dedicated committee are working hard planning for this momentous event. We know that other clubs have celebrated various milestones and would welcome any advice/information that we could use for our own event.
Windsor Brooch
Each month the Windsor Croquet Club runs a Golf Croquet Level Play Singles with a maximum of 16 Players divided into 4 Blocks in a double round robin format. A Brooch is awarded to the winner and runner up of each block. On 15 March 2024, Wynnum Club was represented by Brian Tidmarsh who was the winner of a Brooch. Well done Brian.
Ipswich Cup
Players with handicaps of 8 and above were invited to enter the GC Ipswich Cup competition held at Ipswich Croquet Club on Sunday 10th March 2024. Wynnum Club was well represented by 4 recently joined members, Lorraine and Barry Beattie, and Lynelle and Noel Johnson.
At the end of the day Lorraine and Barry remained undefeated to win the Ipswich Cup. This is the second year that Wynnum has taken out this trophy. Congratulations to Lorraine and Barry.

ACA Association Gold & Silver Medal
This event was held on 6-8 March 2024 in Tasmania. Wynnum member Bruce Fleming, represented Queensland and won the Silver Medal. Well done Bruce!

CAQ Men's Open GC Singles
The CAQ Golf Men's Open Singles was held on 2nd & 3rd March 2024 with two blocks playing at Wynnum and one at Toombul. Three Wynnum members competed - Gordon Giles, Geoff Hull and Cameron Hipwell.
The Championship final was played between Gordon Giles and Bob Martin with some exceptional play by both. Bob finally won the match 7-4, 7-3 to take out the Pam Shepherd Trophy.
Meanwhile at Toombul, Nigel Read (Nambour) and Mike Mabbutt (Eildon) played off for the Carmel Donley Plate which was won by Nigel Read.
