Golf Pennants Round 3 of the 2024 Golf Croquet Pennants Tournament was held on 16th June. with Division 2 team, Wynnum Blue, playing East Brisbane at home and recording a 6 games to 4 victory; a good team effort with Viv and Brian Tidmarsh each winning both their Singles games. Wynnum’s other Division 2 team was also at home against Stephens and had to call upon reserve player, Gaile Nancarrow, to replace an absentee. Gaile did not disappoint combining with Di Lovi to win their doubles game and winning one of her two Singles games; Pat Woulahan won all three of his games and contributed to the team’s 6 games to 4 victory.
Wynnum’s Division 3 team played away at Stephens, in a very tight match each team won 5 games with the Wynnum team winning on net points differential, a great team effort with Sue Anderson winning all her three games. On 21st July, Round 4 saw Wynnum Blue playing away at Graceville chalking up a 6 games to 4 win with contributions from all players. The other Wynnum Division 2 team played away at Twin Rivers with Cheryl Rynja and Lisa Weightman both playing up one division, and both
contributing to the team’s effort: including an excellent performance by Arthur Bullock winning all of his three games. Games were equal at 5 each however Twin Rivers earned the win on net points differential. Unfortunately, Twin Rivers were unable to field a Division 3 team resulting in a forfeiture win by Wynnum.
Renaissance Gala Day 4 July 2024 Sixteen pairs of competitors fronted up for the Renaissance Gala Day with keen competition from all high/low combinations in two blocks. However short daylight time constraints took effect and a final play-off between the block winners was foregone with the winner being declared based upon their performance within their respective blocks. Block B result was close with combinations Arthur Bullock/Ted Creswick and Chris Parker/Phil James recording 5 winning games each; Chris and Phil were declared winners of that block with 10 net points to 2. Trevor O’Hara and Alison Love were undefeated winners in Block A with 7 straight wins. Based on that performance Trevor and Alison were declared winners of the event. Many thanks to Renaissance Retirement Living for their continued support of this event and to our tireless referee Deirdre Giles.
