Windsor reports gala day success, brooch winners and Melbourne Cup style

Four Windsor club members travelled to Bribie Island Croquet Club for the Bribie Gala Day. It was a chance to catch up with friends from other clubs, with plenty of laughter on the lawns. Windsor thanked Bribie Island Croquet Club for hosting.

To make the day even better, Windsor member Julie was runner-up in her group and Brad was the winner in his group. Congratulations went to Julie and Brad.

The annual Brisbane City Council Challenge Cup was also held. The Councillor and staff from each ward office, along with members from Merthyr and Windsor Croquet Clubs, played four doubles games to determine the winner.

The Enoggera Ward Office staff came down early for coaching before the matches. The games were very closely fought, with the scores even at the end of the fourth game. The winner had to be determined by the number of hoops won, with Enoggera Ward/Windsor Croquet Club the victors. That made it 3 years in a row.

The annual Brisbane City Council Challenge Cup was held.

Windsor also corrected a photo from the previous month by sharing the real Graham. Windsor Croquet Club member Graham proudly holds his winner's trophy after winning the Golf singles competition in the Sunshine Coast Region tournament held at Bribie Island recently.

Following the first Mini Golf Singles competition in June, Windsor held another Mini-Golf Singles competition. Players new to the game and competitions, as well as those only able to play 3 games in a day, were invited. Twelve players from Bribie Island, Pine Rivers, Merthyr, Headland-Buderim and Windsor played three 13 point games timed to 45 minutes.

The Mini-Golf Singles block winners were Janis Barrett from Bribie Island in Block A, Joe Armstrong from Merthyr in Block B, and Tina Wilkie from Headland Buderim in Block C.

The November Association Brooch, the last one for 2024, was held with 10 players from Merthyr, Eildon, Twin Rivers, Southport, Stephens, Toowoomba and Windsor. Windsor congratulated the winners and looks forward to welcoming players back in 2025. The first Association Brooch will be on Friday, 4 April 2025.

November Association Brooch winners included Heather Knight from Stephens in Block A and Mike Mabbutt from Eildon in Block B.

Windsor also hosted the October Brooch, a successful and enjoyable day with players from Eildon, McIlwraith, Stephens and Windsor participating. Winners included Max Kilmister from Windsor in Block A, Jan Sampson in Block B, Judy Fairclough from Windsor in Block C and Kerrie Hodgson from McIlwraith in Block D.

WCC celebrated the Melbourne Cup in style, with the ladies dressing up in their finery. The day was spent playing mahjong, participating in sweeps, enjoying a scrumptious lunch provided by members, watching the cup and then either continuing mahjong or taking to the greens to play croquet.

The clubhouse looked colourful with flowers from member Terry's garden. Terry also hosted the lunch, graciously looking after those present.
