Wide Bay Burnett honours Laurie Smith with a Bundaberg doubles day
Bundaberg hosted the Laurie Smith Wide Bay Burnett Region Handicap Doubles and remembered recent secretary Kathryn Walker.
The Annual Laurie Smith Wide Bay Burnett Region Handicap Doubles was played at Bundaberg on 18 May, on a beautiful day under the management of Darryl Bell. The event was the brainwave of Laurie Smith, a former member of Bundaberg Club, and was named after him after he passed away.
The winners were Troy McCallum from Bundaberg and Penny Wilson from Point Lookout. Glen Stronach from Bundaberg and Ann McLennan from Sunnyside were runners up.

Runners up Glen Stronach and Ann McLennan.

Ian Johnson and Wayne Lusk waiting their turn.
Wilma and Melissa Palmer have planning well under way for the Margaret Webley Event, with Ricochet on Thursday 24 July and Golf Croquet on Friday 25 July. Bundaberg expects a large entry and promises visitors a warm welcome, a beautiful city and great friendship.
The club also shared sad news that much loved recent secretary Kathryn Walker passed away on 22 April after battling health issues for quite a while.
