Why Wynnum's lawns are being scarified

hy are our lawns being scarified?

Troy, our groundsman, has been scarifying the lawns to help keep them in good condition and promote healthy grass growth.

Scarifying involves removing the build-up of dead grass, moss and other organic material (known as thatch) that can accumulate on the surface of the lawn.

This process has several benefits:

- Improves drainage: Allows water to penetrate the soil more easily. - Encourages healthy growth: Removes dead material, giving new grass room to grow. - Improves airflow: Allows air, water and nutrients to reach the roots. - Promotes a thicker lawn: Encourages the grass to spread and fill in bare patches.

Although the lawns may look a little rough immediately after scarifying, this is all part of the process. With a little time and care, the grass should recover and become healthier, thicker and more resilient.

Scarification is helping keep our croquet playing surfaces in great condition!
