The Bayside Cup, proudly sponsored by Goseetouring, was played at Wynnum Croquet Club on Sunday, with 32 players from across South East Queensland joining us for a day of competitive croquet.

With an open doubles competition underway, all four courts were double-banked, making for a busy day on the lawns.

Each game began with a coin toss to decide which partnership played first, usually taking the blue and black balls, while their opponents played red and yellow.

Players then attached three coloured clips to their clothing. A practical way to keep track of who won each hoop!

The final saw Helen and Ross Rillie take on Mary McMahon and Gordon Giles in a gripping contest. With a one-hour time limit, every hoop counted. Both partnerships battled it out with skilful shots, clever tactics and plenty of thought about how best to outmanoeuvre their opponents.

In the end, time proved to be the ultimate opponent, and when the clock ran out, Helen and Ross Rillie emerged as the Bayside Cup winners, 6 to them and 5 to Mary and Gordon! Congratulations to them, and well played to runners-up Mary and Gordon.

Michelle from Goseetouring had the pleasure of presenting the prizes to the winning and runner-up partnerships.

A big thank you to Goseetouring for sponsoring the event, and congratulations to Wynnum Croquet Club for hosting another well-organised tournament. Despite the threatening skies, it was a great day of competition, camaraderie and croquet!
