Toombul top-dresses the lawns and grows to twenty-six members
Toombul finally gets the sand for top-dressing, grows to 26 members, and looks forward to fielding a Golf Croquet pennant team.
Toombul has had the top dressing done after much ‘will it be done or not’. There is an issue with getting sand, and it seems we were very fortunate to get it. It wasn’t booked before Christmas as it was supposed to be by the contractor. However he managed to get 20 cubic metres from somewhere! The lawns are already looking as if they haven’t been done, so much grass. Wayne does such a fine job. He just loves those lawns. We’ve used the grant money and that will be acquitted in the next week or so. We had a few parties before Christmas and all were enjoyed by the visitors. Such a shame they don’t have the time to play. We now have 26 members and Toombul is so happy with that progress. We’re expecting a few more people to join in February. Six members who live in the Alondra Apartment Complex have joined our club. See below the lovely historical information about Toombul CC that was in a recent ‘in house’ Newsletter. Hopefully we will be able to field a Pennant team this year for Golf C. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve been able to do this. They’ll be 3rd Div. But that’s good, they have to start somewhere. Hedi Trask
Toowoomba A busy year for the club in 2023 lies ahead. Our new club President,

Betty Salter
, has taken over the mantle of club President at the end of 2022. We all wish her well and our club members will support her as they have in the past to keep our club active and welcoming to all. Photo at right- Betty Salter Our club was founded 120 years ago (1903) and we will be marking the occasion with our Friendship Day and other events over the year ahead. Among other ideas is to produce a unique badge for club members and participants in our events during 2023. More Details will follow regarding what will be on and all croquet players are welcome to our club to help celebrate this milestone. Item 1 - Christmas party. The club held its Christmas party at the clubhouse this year. We had a good attendance and all enjoyed getting together and having some great food. Sandra even organised some Gateball for people to try (she’s always looking for new players!). Thanks to all the organisers and helpers without whose help these events would not happen.
