Sunnyside Melbourne Cup, plant sale, and social groups
Sunnyside enjoys a Melbourne Cup social day, holds a successful plant sale fundraiser, and hosts three social groups for Come and Try afternoons.
Sunnyside Croquet Club members enjoyed a social day for the Melbourne Cup. While the rain poured down outside, board games replaced croquet play. We eagerly awaited the draw of the horses for the sweeps. After enjoying a shared lunch and cheering along our horses, prizes for the sweeps were handed out by President, Margie Rudd.
The plant sale held on a November Saturday morning was successful as a fundraiser. Thanks to the keen gardeners in the club who brought lots of great plants. The remaining plants were donated to the Tom Quinn Centre which had recently lost most of their plants during a fire in their nursery.
During November we were busy hosting three social groups who came to try croquet. This is a great way to promote the club. The juniors from the Burnett Bowls Club showed lots of promise.
The club is winding down for the end of the year with the AGM coming up on 3rd December and a celebratory dinner planned the week later.
