Steve Kele honoured as Rockhampton Sportsperson of the Year before Gateball success at Moreton Bay

Rockhampton extended huge congratulations to member Steve Kele, who was named Sportsperson of the Year at the Rockhampton Australia Day Awards. The honour recognised his achievements, dedication to sport and contribution to the community.

This year's ceremony was postponed from late January to mid-February due to regional flooding. The club said the award was fitting recognition of Steve's dedication, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for both Gateball and Croquet.

Four Rockhampton members, Steve, Cheryl, John and Linda, joined Ruth and Helen from Toronto and National Park clubs from 14 to 16 March at the Moreton Bay Gateball teams and doubles event.

In the teams competition, the players showed skill, strategy and teamwork, earning an outstanding 1st place finish. The success continued in doubles, where club members secured 3rd and 4th place after several close matches.
