State team practice, a new irrigation system and Christmas in July at Toombul

Toombul hosts the Queensland State team and Development Squads, and looks forward to Christmas in July.

The QLD State team played at Toombul in March and the lawns were really quite dry after being covered to a depth of 5cm the week before. The lawns recovered very well due to Wayne's efforts also. He was able to mow on the Wednesday after the heavy rain, and then again on the Friday, so the lawns were very fast for the State Team.

We had the BCC hydro contractors at the club doing their inspection of the irrigation system. Hopefully we are going to get a new computer system for the irrigation as the one we have is about 15 years old. The lads said we were lucky that there was no e-coli in the system, as many clubs have this due to flooding.

Toombul has lost more members. However, we will continue to teach new folk and hope they will join the club. It is so unfortunate, as many hours of hard work have gone into revitalizing the club. My Mahjong groups are very supportive, thank goodness for that.

Toombul has had the State Golf Squad practicing at the club. Bruce and Liz have also had the Development Squad Association Croquet at the club. Our club had the concreting done at the front and the outside at the side of the clubhouse. The sides and front of the clubhouse have been painted, leaving the mosaic on the back wall. All this is looking very good.

Toombul is having a Christmas in July on the 22nd. Hopefully I'll get some images. We are now doing quite nicely re new members; we lost quite a few at the end of last year so Toombul is quite happy with the way things are going.

There's not a lot to report at the moment, just that it's jolly cold!!
