Southport players collect national and club event results
Southport reports Mary McMahon’s national GC results, the Golden Mallet, Ricochet Singles, Gateball Triples and the Rockhampton Gateball Competition.
Southport's top level Golf Croquet players had a busy April and May, with excellent results. Mary McMahon travelled to Cairnlea, Melbourne, for the Australian Open Doubles Championship. Playing with Gordon Giles from Wynnum, she won the Plate section of the event.
Mary then returned to Melbourne for the Golf Croquet Open Singles Championship, reaching the final group of 16 and placing sixth. She was the highest placed woman in the competition.
The annual Golden Mallet Competition for Division 2 or 3 Golf Croquet players was held on Sunday 27 April. Only 12 teams could be accommodated. Vivienne and Brian Tidmarsh from Wynnum won, with Southport players Brian Richardson and Glenn Wran second.

The winning team was Southport's Kerry Lamerton, Dianne Sweet and Robyn Barlow. Second place also went to Southport, with Barbara Northcott, Donna Nicholson and Kathie Grant. Keith McLeod made the presentations.
