Queensland croquet team wins the Border Trophy at Burleigh Heads Palm Beach
The Queensland Croquet team won the Border Trophy against NSW 14-10 at Burleigh Heads Palm Beach, with Golf, Ricochet and Association codes played across three lawns.
On Wednesday 21st June the Queensland Maroons claimed the State of Origin series with a win against NSW at Suncorp Stadium, and on the same day the Queensland Croquet team won the Border Trophy (Gold Coast Tweed version) with a 14-10 game over NSW. Two games were tied and if they had gone NSW's way it would have been down to hoop counts, so it was actually a close encounter.
Attended by some 30 players from across the region, the Border Trophy was a great success, assisted by beautiful weather. Burleigh Heads Palm Beach club hosted the day with Golf, Ricochet and Association codes each being allocated to one of the three lawns. Two games of Golf were played to one of the other codes which had shortened versions of their game, and it worked well with great camaraderie and a mixing of players from different clubs.
