New committee, government grant and the Margaret Webley ahead at Bundaberg

Greetings from the Bundaberg Croquet Club on the banks of the Burnett river. The start of the year proved to be very busy in Bundaberg, with some new members on the management committee having to find their feet quickly and start running.

We welcomed Russell Davis as our new President, Barry Beikoff as our new Treasurer and Gordon Cooper as the new Association captain. The rest of the committee remained the same with Glen Stronach as Vice President, formerly President; Jenny McCracken as secretary; Wilma Palmer as Golf and Ricochet Captain; Bob Brydon as Greens Director; and Joy Boys as Kitchen Co-ordinator. We were also pleased to welcome four new members at the beginning of the year.

We are actively supporting the CAQ membership drive and look forward to seeing our membership grow even further through that initiative. We have been lucky to receive a government grant to cover painting, office equipment, balls and mallets and security. It is exciting to have those projects going ahead.

Our Toro mower then started to give trouble and we will be getting a new engine installed with the help of a grant from the Bundaberg Regional Council. Thank you BRC.

Saturday morning tea

Saturday morning tea at Bundaberg.

Our next major event is the Margaret Webley to be run on July 30 and 31. As usual, this is in the capable hands of Wilma Palmer who, with the help of her daughter Melissa, is hard at work with the organisation. It will be a great event.
