Murwillumbah's Margaret Mitchell Memorial Doubles won by Coolangatta pair
The rescheduled Margaret Mitchell Memorial Association Doubles tournament at Murwillumbah saw five pairs enjoy glorious weather, with Coolangatta's Gavin Clarke and Doug Turner taking the trophy.
The lawns at Murwillumbah are still under stress from the floods but it is hoped that in September work will commence on refurbishing the surface. The ricochet doubles tournament was to be held at Murwillumbah on 10 to 12 August 2022. Unfortunately, there were not enough entries to run the event which had to be cancelled.
The rescheduled Margaret Mitchell Memorial Association Doubles tournament was held 24 to 25 August 2022. There were only five pairs entered but an enjoyable tournament in glorious weather pleased those players who entered. The winners were Gavin Clarke and Doug Turner from Coolangatta. Runners-up were Paul Harper and Joy Hughes from Murwillumbah. Thank you to all club members who helped with setting up the lawns and running the kitchen and generally making our visitors feel welcome at our events.

Pennant competition for Murwillumbah is now complete, very enjoyable but with little success. The club is now looking forward to Christmas festivities in November.
On a sad note, one of our dear members Beryl Walter, passed away on 11/8/2022. The club held a memorial afternoon tea for Beryl on Sunday 28th August. Beryl's sunny disposition endeared her to all our members. RIP Beryl.
