Murwillumbah Ricochet Doubles tournament and a generous clubhouse donation
Murwillumbah hosts the annual Ricochet Handicap Doubles tournament with winners from Coolangatta and Burleigh Heads, and receives a surprise clubhouse donation from the Services Club.
Our Association team Ospreys have completed their GCTR pennants games with a resounding loss. Hopefully next year more players will be available to compete.
The annual Ricochet Handicap Doubles tournament held in August with five pairs participating in a round robin competition was managed by Joy, our tournament manager. Weather was perfect, morning and afternoon tea (mostly home-cooked goodies) was organised by Juliet and her helpers. The winners were Garry Purcell (Coolangatta) and Malcolm Campbell from Burleigh Heads/Palm Beach, and runners up Eunice Frater and John Micallef from Southport. Congratulations to all players.
Murwillumbah Services Club sponsored the event. Guy Diven, CEO, and helper Ashlee presented winners with their prizes. Guy also presented Murwillumbah Croquet Club with a monetary donation to assist with painting of the clubhouse. A lovely surprise.

Runners up John Micallef, Joy Hughes, Eunice Frater, and Guy Diven.
Joy is in the process of applying for another grant for $10,000 from our local member Janelle Saffin. If successful, hopefully planned renovations can be completed. Member numbers remain stable with two people very interested in joining our club. Social play is well supported with locals popping in to watch play. Court maintenance is in full progress with spraying of weeds and fertilising so, hopefully, some rain will arrive.
