Murwillumbah keeps play going through rain and adds new hoops

Despite many weeks of rain, croquet has continued to thrive in Murwillumbah. Pennants are ongoing in Ricochet and Association, led by team captain Michael Pagano.

Members attended Easter long weekend games and competitions at Tweed Heads Croquet Club, where Yvonne Reynolds came home with a raffle prize. The club also had an exchange and afternoon of play with Pottsville Croquet Club, hoping to excite Pottsville members about Ricochet, and shared a generous afternoon tea.

The lawns remain splendid, helped by the mower's new blades. The club thanked maintenance team Dave Chapman, Wayne McFie and Scott Hall.

Murwillumbah now has two new sets of hoops to replace older models. Dave Chapman has been educating players in their proper use and care and has spent many hours making sure they are set correctly.

The club had a visit from Greg Bury of Windsor for a hit and cuppa, and members appreciated his company.

Recent birthday celebrations included Wayne McFie and Unabelle, both long standing members.

Many members also attended training in the use of an automated external defibrillator. Jeff Collier, a local trainer from the Murwillumbah aquatic centre, volunteered to present the class and was thanked with a gift and another tea and cake session.
