Mike Gidding undefeated in NSW Singles, and Croquet for Kids launches at Cherry Street
Cherry Street Ballina celebrates Mike Gidding's undefeated NSW Singles win, David Scott and Raymond Chapman's tournament travels, service awards for Gail Kerr and Barbara Wellings, and a new Croquet for Kids program.
Mike Gidding played in the NSW Association Croquet Singles 3 & Under at Tempe Sydney. He went through undefeated winning all 6 games and the final against Trevor Bassett 26/17. A outstanding performance from Mike who was also selected in the NSW Eire Cup Team. Congratulations.
The local globetrotters, David Scott and Raymond Chapman, have been playing the tournament circuit again 2024. David contested the Australian second Eights in Launceston Tasmania and finished with 4 match wins and a creditable 5th. Raymond played in the Fourth Eights in Cairnlea Victoria and had 2 match wins and a creditable 6th place. Both players have a big year ahead with many tournaments on their radar.
Other Tournament Results: - Bribie Island Division 3 Association Croquet: Phyllis Waters 4th. - Darling Downs Level Play Doubles: Werner Borkhardt and Dennise Simmons 1st.
Gail Kerr, Champion Croquet player Cherry Street, was presented with her 10 years Service to the Club certificate by Club President Christine Edlund. Congratulations Gail, a wonderful lady, and a very supportive valued Club Member.

Ray Chapman & Phyllis Waters finished Runners Up in the Margaret Mitchell Memorial Association Handicap Croquet Doubles at Murwillumbah to Malcolm Campbell and Chris Parker Palm Beach / Burleigh. Barbara Wellings, another 10 years recipient, was presented with her certificate for her commitment and service to the Club. Barbara, the Welfare officer, has been a wonderful asset to the club over the years with her support and thoughts to those members who are sick and unwell.
Croquet for Kids - Cherry Street
A trial to attract Juniors to the Club in April was played on Tuesday afternoons 4pm / 5pm, Golf Croquet. This will be ongoing throughout the year with Juniors to enjoy Tuesday afternoons and Twilight Croquet. Ages 10 years+ both boys and girls are welcome to come Learn, Play, Enjoy. Already we have interest shown with a young junior, Ruby, attending Twilight regularly.
