Metro Div 3 pennants and tournament success for Casey and Zach at Merthyr

Merthyr is back in season for public events, with many event bookings making good use of our premises throughout June and busy days expected for the coming months!

We started the Brisbane Metro Div 3 Golf Pennants season by welcoming Twin Rivers to our beautiful surrounds. Our new competitors learned a few things about tactics and friendship during the match. Twin Rivers took home the win, but good times and many learnings were the flavour of the day for new (and almost-new) competitors played for the first time in competition. Special mention to husband and wife pair David and Glenis Phillips for participation in their first outside of club-play competition! We are looking forward to seeing the season out over the next 2 months with golf Croquet members: Alastair Kelsey, Andrew Golder, David and Glenis Phillips, Fay Jackson, Ian Harding, Nik Tockus and Sue Norman. In other Tournament news, Club Members Casey De-Vene and Zach Kominar have been out and about in Golf and Association respectively. Casey, playing in many recent tournaments, including the QLD Open GC Doubles with Wade Hart (Eildon), they made an undefeated showing on day 1 of play, but were challenged in day 2 during the championship competition, falling short of their expectations.

Zach has been participating in many AC tournaments, most recently the Windsor Brooch (May and June), where he placed 2nd and 1st respectively. He's looking forward to more competition as part of the Gold Coast week long AC Tournament, playing in Div 2 Singles events and partnering with Stephens President Jacky Lynch for the Murwillumbah Mixed Doubles match.

The club continues to maintain its friendly and welcoming nature, with Alastair Kelsey being welcomed as a full member of the club; and many interested parties veering over our fences who always get a warm welcome and invitation to come and play croquet with us.

Our club is organizing the 6th annual Councillor's Cup in conjunction with our neighbours at Windsor Croquet Club and our associated local ward officers.
