Merthyr's Zach Kominar debuts for Queensland, and Alan Anderson wins the Southport Shield

It has been a busy start to the year for a number of members despite the delays in getting the top dressing of the lawns completed because of the bad weather conditions - we are now up and running with thanks to Andrew Golder who coordinates the lawns maintenance.

President Zach Kominar has just completed his inaugural participation with the Queensland Association Team in the Interstate shield competition in Tasmania. Whilst not winning, he made hoops in every game and received very good feedback regarding his sportsmanship and presence on the lawns as well as in the team.

Casey De Vene participated in the delayed CAQ Men's Golf Croquet competition - playing well and positioning third.

After diligently attending their introductory Association training for a few months at the end of last year Alan Anderson, David Bartholomeusz and Janelle Winn played in their first singles Association comp at the Southport Shield where Merthyr players made up the majority of the competitors. All were excellent ambassadors for our club and acquitted themselves well with Alan winning the prestigious Shield by winning all his games.

Well done to all our competitive players and everyone is enjoying our regular social play on our now very green lawns.
