Lismore hosts the Battle of the Mallets

Battle of the Mallets NRCA Championships Ricochet Handicap Doubles, played in Lismore Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th August with 7 teams participating. Players from Lismore, Ballina Cherry St and Byron Bay Clubs came together at Lismore Croquet Club to battle it out over two long hot but enjoyable days. Competition was keen and scores were close right up until the final bell. "Well played" to all Players. Winners were - Phyllis Waters and Deborah Matten (Lismore) who were Undefeated. Runners Up - Neville and Robyn Poynting (Ballina Cherry St) who only dropped one game throughout the Tournament.

Congratulations on a successful Tournament. Many thanks to Referee and Tournament Manager Fay Ross (Lismore) and Referee Richard Hughes (Ballina Inc). Thanks also to the cheerful busy Scorers, Time Keepers, Kitchen Hands, Rent-a-Crowd and Gwen Sharp and to Bruce Ross who tirelessly painted the lines for each court and set up both lawns with hoops Friday and Saturday mornings.
