Lease renewal and a new committee at Broadbeach

Greetings from Broadbeach Club - the last couple of months have been hectic with the court having its annual maintenance and the Annual General meeting plus application information gathering to renew the lease with the City of Gold Coast Council.

Renewing the lease takes a fair amount of time meeting the criteria that the council expects. However, the club's President Alan Edwards and the club secretary have managed to fill in the application and have presented it to council. So now it's wait and see if they have given Council no reason to forfeit the lease.

The administrative committee are elected and accepted as follows - President Alan Edwards; Secretary Sandra Edwards ; Treasurer Jim Gardiner plus 4 committee people as follows - Bob Neate, Merle Neate, Sylvia Duffy and Madeleine Robertson. Captain for Golf Croquet is Leigh Bosward and Association Croquet Margaret Barnard.

The catering group has been a success with a few of the members making up delicious menus mainly on a Wednesday evening or special occasions as they occur. They have one in their group, Sue, who has joined as a non playing member to offer her experience with creating delicious food when the occasion arises.

Club patronage is good with the majority playing Golf Croquet and the very keen, traditional players enjoying Association Croquet. That is just about all the updates for Broadbeach Club for this issue. Next time all the club championships for 2024 will be finalised so there will be more news of players and their game.
