Ipswich introduces weekly Golf competitions and crowns Esme and Patrick as Ipswich Cup Champions

Thanks to the innovation of member Nev Gray, Ipswich has introduced two new weekly competitions for its Golf players, played on Wednesday and Saturday respectively. The first two games of the day are drawn and played to time with hoops run counted, culminating towards recognition prizes at the end of the year. Aside from the new level of competition on member days, members are in general developing skills around understanding of rules and the flavour of playing pennant type matches. Bonus days add a little more fun to the competition and are sponsored so come with the added bonus of prizes on the day. Overall, our Golf members are enjoying this new face to play days. Well done Nev!

The 3rd Ipswich Cup Championship

The 3rd Ipswich Cup Championship was held in March. Twenty-four keen players, all wanting their name on the shield, came from as far away as Laurel Bank (Toowoomba), Bribie Island, Graceville, Stephens, Wynnum and Ipswich. After an extremely close competition the winners were Esme and Patrick (Wynnum) and the runner-ups Joan and Sandra (Bribie Island). The 8+ Doubles event is run specifically to allow players to participate in a level-play comp within a similar skill level, so it was pleasing to see Patrick be part of a winning double in his very first competition.
