Hervey Bay thanks long-serving members and shares Christmas generosity

Hervey Bay sent warm wishes for a rewarding year of croqueting and acknowledged the many volunteer hours that keep clubs running. The club’s Christmas Function and Presentation of Awards created an opportunity to thank Joan Mathiesen and Jenny Campbell for their service, with Club President Anthony Berne presenting gifts of appreciation.

Joan has given meritorious service to the club for more than ten years and has also been a dedicated Regional Delegate. She has filled most management positions and contributed strongly to governance. Jenny is stepping down from the Management Committee after ten years of dedicated service, having held every managerial position and given her knowledge, insight and time.

The AGM was held on 27 November. Jocelyn Watts is the new President and Janet Pool has accepted the position of Club Captain.

The club also marked Jenny Campbell’s big birthday with a surprise cake, piped in by club member Owen. His sensitive playing of Happy Birthday brought tears and will be remembered for a long time.

The club’s Christmas Charity Collection through Uniting Care for families in need received an overwhelming response. Members packed three hampers with food, Christmas fare and toys. Feedback from families and members showed how much the gifts meant, and how warmly members felt about helping make Christmas brighter.

Hervey Bay was also looking forward to a social visit from Point Lookout Club on 31 January, and included a date claimer for Croquet on the Bay 2025. Photos were courtesy Jocelyn Watts.
