Hervey Bay plans big events, installs solar panels and introduces a Jump Shot badge

The Hervey Bay Croquet Club, like every other Club, is well and truly 'into the swing of things'.....Croquet-wise. We too have weathered the excessive heat and humidity. Perhaps it is a case of 'mad dogs and Croquet players......'. We certainly look forward to the more temperate conditions which also bring with them lots of functions, tournaments etc.

Hervey Bay is busily planning for the ACA Ricochet championships to be held in July and our own tournament Croquet on the Bay -2024 in August. Flyers have been distributed for both of these events. Please don't hesitate to make contact to register your interest particularly for the August event. (Entry forms will be sent to all Clubs in late May or early June). Entry forms for the Club championships to be held in May are now available.

With folk stepping down from positions of responsibility and new members filling those positions, a very informative Orientation Session, led by Jenny Campbell (our Club Captain) was held at the beginning of the year, prior to the first Management Committee meeting. It covered several topics including The Organisation (ACA, CAQ, Region, local) and The Roles and Responsibilities of elected members. (All Position Descriptions had been reviewed and revised prior to the AGM in November).

Although Jenny could really only 'skim the surface' it was a very helpful session and the feedback received from members in attendance was very positive.

The Club is delighted to see that the solar panels have recently been installed on the Club House. This was made possible from a successful grant application from the Fraser Coast Regional Council and work was carried out by a local firm.

It is very pleasing to see members of the Club availing themselves of the various training opportunities being offered. This leads to greater confidence and that desire to improve.

This year our golf croquet captain, Pam has introduced a monthly Jumps Shot badge for the greatest number of jump shots in the month.

Happy croqueting.
