Headland Buderim reports club championships, social events and club promotion
Headland Buderim reported Golf Croquet club championships, Melbourne Cup celebrations, visits to other clubs and a Buderim community promotion day.
Headland Buderim completed several GC Club Championships. In Div 1 Singles on 14th Nov, Ross Rillie won the Div 1 Singles Club Championship. Other entrants were Doug Houston, Colin Beckett and Helen Rillie.
Div 2 Singles was held on 17th Oct with six entrants: Shirley Eames, Merryl Cook, Cheryl Moodie, Tina Wilkie, Viv Lloyd and Lesley Johnston, who took out first place. Patron, Gordon, was on hand to present his and Judith's Shield to Lesley.

The Doubles Championship was held on 2nd Nov. The six pairs contesting the title were Colin Beckett & Doug Houston, Cheryl Moodie & Lesley Johnston, Shirley Eames & Viv Lloyd, Cheryl Quatember & Merryl Cook, Yvonne Palmer & Tina Wilkie, with Ross & Helen Rillie winning the title. The shield was presented by President Shirley.

Melbourne Cup proved an enjoyable and successful social function. After morning play, festivities began with a complimentary bubbly or beer and lunch. Fashions on the Field was taken seriously until Viv & Merryl arrived with hobby horses, giving everyone a good laugh. Viv Lloyd won the People's Choice vote.

Four members contested the men's line up, with Kevin taking out the title. Robyn won Heads & Tails, Ross won the trivia competition, and no one guessed correctly in Name the Horse, so entries went into a draw and Merryl won the takings from the $1 entry fee. All winners throughout the day received donated prizes.
Out & About, Col Beckett paired with Graham McLean from Eildon to play in Wynnum's 'Winner Takes All' Doubles on 19-20th Oct and came in a worthy 3rd. On 26th Sept, Viv Lloyd, Shirley Eames & Lesley Johnston played in The Range's Friendship Day, which included all 3 codes. On 25th Oct, Viv Lloyd & Tina Wilkie played in the Windsor Mini Golf Half Day for Handicaps 9+, where Tina won block C. On 2nd Nov at Bribie Is Golf Random Doubles Gala Day, Cheryl Quatember, Viv Lloyd, Merryl Cook and Tina Wilkie competed. Viv & Cheryl both won in their allotted 'colour'.
Ross and Helen facilitated a visit from the Cooinda Depart of the Buderim Private Hospital. Many members also took turns manning a display at the BWMCA's (Buderim War Memorial Community Association) day on 9th November to promote Croquet.
