Christmas Party: It was decided to hold a Christmas luncheon at the Maroochy RSL after many years of self-catering an evening event at the club house. Alas, it did not attract as many members as was hoped but enjoyed by those who attended.

NYE CROQUET BY HEADLIGHT 2022 saw perfect weather for the occasion. It was very pleasing to see members and guests who had never played before in this event, come along. From the positive feedback it seems most enjoyed themselves and very surprised by the fun they had. Helen Irving, Guest & HBCC Neighbour was the winner. SCC’s fireworks at Mooloolaba were viewed on the horizon which gave an added atmosphere to the evening. A bottle of wine was presented to Robyn Leadbetter who once again stepped into the role of convenor and saw to the running of the kitchen, setting of tables etc. Thank you Robyn.

Lawns 1 & 4 are looking great after they were out of action for several weeks for scarifying and top dressing following on from lawns 2 & 3. These improvements will hold the club in good stead for the ACA Nationals in 2024 as part of the hosting clubs of the Sunshine Coast Region. ACA’s GC Under 21’s Gold & Silver Medal, Doubles and Singles: Ross Rillie was honoured to be among the state player/referees at this event held at Eildon Croquet Club from 11-16th Jan 2023. It was great to see so many Queenslanders in the events. Addison Matthews from Toowoomba West Club won the Silver Medal after a nail-biting finish to Tasmanian, Curtis Mead. Addison then went on to win the Singles event. Other Queenslanders were Tim Wright, Fran Wright & Trinity Rouhead also from Toowoomba West CC. Could Joy Wright be the special ingredient to the clubs success! All results can be seen on Croquet Scores.

New club flooring has finally been laid after the unfortunate flooding of the club house last year. Having all areas covered with the same planking has the club house looking very smart. Thanks to all the many members working behind the scenes to bring this to fruition.
Hope the year has started well and remains so for everyone. Helen Rillie
