Gracemere’s 14 Point Extravaganza brings multi-code fun a...

The Gracemere Croquet Club hosted a 14 Point Extravaganza with a difference in July this year. The rather chilly mornings soon warmed up to be lovely winter days. All participants reported they had a great weekend and enjoyed the relaxed format and multi-code option. Players could choose when and who to play and what code to play over the two days, with some players getting in more than 10 games of Golf, Ricochet or Association.

Many players participated in all the codes. We were joined by players from Gladstone, Point Lookout, Rockhampton and Windsor Clubs and really enjoyed seeing some different styles in action. Several of the highly skilled players were very willing to assist the newer players with helpful advice, and there was lots of laughter across some games.

All games were to 14 Points or 1¼ hour timed, and Egyptian format play, with no handicaps or free turns on the court - the difference in player's ranking determined the number of points won (or lost!) each game with the winners determined by how much their own ranking had improved over the course of the weekend. A fun tournament format that gave new players a chance to play against and learn from the more experienced and skilled players, and gave the more competitive players some new opponents to test themselves against.
