What's happening here? A Golf Croquet tactics snapshot

An older man in a hat and checked shirt strikes a croquet ball on a green lawn with hoops and colored balls

Photo 2: Well done, Deb, to scatter the opponents and leave Pink in a scoring position and White near the hoop. David then attempted to clear Pink with Brown.

Croquet is at its core a tactical confrontation. Each player tries to position two balls so that points can be scored whilst thwarting the opponent's plans. At the end of a turn, one side tries for a favourable position and the opposition in an unfavourable position.

Both offensive and defensive moves can be executed. Croquet is a stand-alone, exceptionally interesting and challenging sport that could easily be categorised as a mix of snooker, chess and golf. The two main varieties of croquet are "Association Croquet" and "Golf Croquet".
