Eildon reports senior day, Don's Trophy Day and strong tournament results
Eildon reported a successful COTA Seniors Day, Don's Trophy Day, tournament results, gateball success at Caloundra and the Eildon Invitational.
The COTA Seniors Day held on 6th October was a success, with many members enjoying the day. The bifold doors have greatly enhanced how the club can entertain its members and visitors.
The October Andrew Reibelt Sunday Series was held on 13th October in blustery conditions. Block A was won by Mike Mabbutt, with runner-up Carol Kelidon. Steve Helleur won Block B with Maggie Lawson as runner-up. Chris Lyon was Block C winner ahead of Robert Roose. Block D was won by Kathy Vincent with Marion Stower as runner-up. All prizes were presented by Eildon Secretary, Penny.

The inaugural Don's Trophy Day, celebrating Don Turner's long association with Eildon, was held on 16th October. Those who attended enjoyed modified games, morning tea and lunch. Robert Kidd was the eventual winner.

Mike Mabbutt has had a successful few weeks, winning his block at the Windsor Association Broach and then teaming with Jill Cole to win the GC Doubles held at Wynnum. This followed their win in the 2024 CAQ Mixed Doubles. The club also congratulated Mike for videoing and commentating on events held at the club.
Eildon held its Annual Melbourne Cup Luncheon at the club house before settling back to watch Knight's Choice's surprise win.
The Eildon White Gateball team played in Caloundra on the weekend of the 9-10 November and won the event. The team won 7 from 8 games and had to win the last game to win the trophy.
The annual Eildon Invitational was held at the club on the same weekend. Saturday's Block A was won by Claire Warriner with Joan Gleeson as runner up. Cameron Hipwell won Block B on Saturday and followed it up as runner up of Sunday's Block B. Penny Verrall was runner up of Block B on Saturday. The winner of Block A on Sunday was Jill Cole with Jan Sampson runner up. Shelley Moar won Block B on Sunday.

The lawn's annual maintenance was due to be undertaken in the next few weeks, with working bees being held on 11th November and 2nd December. Access to the courts during these periods would be restricted. Eildon thanked all members who volunteer their time to maintain the club's success and congratulated the Association State team players selected to represent their State in 2025.
Eildon wished everyone a very Merry and Safe Christmas and looked forward to an exciting 2025.
