Eildon High Tea, a St Patrick's Day Gala, and Bob Martin's double Open win
Eildon Croquet Club reports on a successful High Tea, a St Patrick's Day Gala, Bob Martin winning both CAQ Men's Open titles, and participation in the Gateball Teams event and Florence Cup.
Despite the extreme heat that has hit us all so far this year our player numbers have held steady. More are attending the early morning session for our golf days starting at 7.30am to combat the heat and we are introducing twilight play on Tuesdays at 4pm. We have had quite a few new members join Eildon in the past 2 months keeping our Coach Co-Ordinator Steve Helleur busy.
Our Social Committee did a great job organising the High Tea which was a huge success. All funds raised are going to our charity for this year which is The Breakfast Club. They also have other social dates planned including a Trivia Night on 4 June, Christmas in July, a board games evening in October and Melbourne Cup lunch in November.
Eildon hosted the CAQ GC Women's Open in February. The Tournament was won by Mary McMahon from Southport with Jenee from Eildon as runner up.

Congratulations to our club member Bob Martin who has started the year in fine form winning the CAQ GC Men's Open Singles held early March and also the CAQ GC Open Singles held on 23/24 March at Caloundra.

Eildon hosted a St Patrick's Day Gala on 17 March. As it was St Patrick's Day the theme was "green". There were green hats, T/shirts, trousers and a green tutu made an appearance. The green theme spilled over into the morning tea as well with green icing on the muffins. A fun day was had by all. There were 35 entrants forming 2 blocks. Denis Pitkin and Shelley Moar won their block and the other block was won by Maggie Lawson and Margaret Broughan.

Fun on the lawns for St. Patrick's Day at Eildon.
Ricochet
Our Ricochet team attended at Bribie again this year to contest the Florence Cup. Bribie's team this year played extremely well and beat us 301 hoops to 209 hoops. Our Ricochet players enjoyed the day with Bribie also putting on a scrumptious morning/afternoon tea and lunch.
Association
Our Association members are organising a pro-am Gala Day for Wednesday 15 May. This day is to introduce new players to AC and to give developing players a taste of competitive play. The teams will consist of a low handicapped player and a new or development player playing several shortened doubles AC games.
Gateball
On the weekend 9-11 March a team from Eildon participated in the Gateball Teams event hosted by the Moreton Bay Gateball Club. Our team managed to win four of the eight games played in a round robin format and they came fifth in the Teams event. The Teams event was won by Moreton Bay. The next Gateball Tournament our members will be competing in is the Southport Triples on Sunday 7 April.
