Eildon gains Active Women and Girls support and backs Add...

Eildon's application under the Active Women and Girls program was successful. The club will offer a number of scholarships for women to come and play croquet at Eildon, not just to learn the game but also to improve their general wellbeing through socialising with others, participating in gentle exercise and taking on the challenge of applying strategies and tactics in a competitive environment.

On Saturday 22 June, Eildon will host a fundraiser Gala Day for Addison Matthews. Addison has been granted a wild card entry by Croquet Australia to compete at the World Croquet Federation Championships in October this year in America. Morning tea, afternoon tea and a BBQ lunch are included in the registration fee.

Ricochet

On 3 April, Eildon held a special day to showcase Ricochet to members interested in finding out more about this form of croquet. It was a fun day. Wade Hart came along to offer some expertise and give a demonstration. Cath Finlay and Louise Riding ran coaching sessions.

Gateball

Unfortunately, the tournament at Southport was postponed due to bad weather.

Association

Eildon held an Association Pro-Am Gala Day in May, where the more experienced AC players showed other club members why this version of the sport is so addictive. Fun was had by all, finishing with a BBQ lunch overseen by Kay and Jill.

Golf Croquet

The Sunday Singles Series was played on 28 April for handicap players 5 and over. The winner of Block A was Nev Gray, the winner of Block B was Gail Sloane, the winner of Block C was Frances Wright and the winner of Block D was Jim Love.

Seven players from Eildon competed in the Windsor Shield in April. The club congratulates Jill Cole on winning her block.

Bob Martin, Jenee Molyneux and Mike Mabbutt competed in the Queensland GC First and Second Eights held at Toombul. There were a lot of very close games, but players still had time to enjoy themselves.

Vale: Don Turner, 08/06/1930 to 01/05/2024

On 1st May, Don Turner, who was a life member of Eildon, passed away. Don was a member of Eildon for almost 20 years and played all codes of croquet except Gateball. He was a coach and mentor to many members still playing today and will be very much missed by all. Don was 94 years of age.
