East Brisbane visits Warwick and crowns Sue Maher and Cate Irons as doubles champions

East Brisbane members travelled to Warwick for the Jumpers and Jazz Festival and Christmas in July. They shared lunch, settled into the motel and attended a Christmas in July dinner at The Abbey, where the EBCC team won a quiz based on the Australian version of the 12 Days of Christmas.

Rain on Saturday moved the markets indoors, and Kym led Christmas-themed games that evening. Jenny successfully tossed Christmas Ted into a bucket while blindfolded. Sunday brought blue skies and another market visit.

On 3 August, East Brisbane held its Club Championship Day on three courts overlooking the Brisbane River. Seven doubles teams entered under a high-low pairing system. Bob Hollingsworth organised the event, acted as on-call referee and cooked the barbecue. Sue Maher and Cate Irons won with five games and 12 net hoops.
