Darling Downs referees and coaches trained, regional tournament results from Laurel Bank

Regional Referees have now completed their training. Tim (TCC) and Joy and Francis (West Toowoomba) have all become level 1 referees. This will be handy for when local competitions are run. The clubs and players of our region would like to thank Pat and Bill Habner for the organisation and support for this much needed training.

Golf Croquet coaches have had their training recently and will be of great benefit to the region's clubs. A total of six members have been approved. TCC has three new coaches, Betty, Paul and Tim, and Laurel Bank has Robin, Jane and Valmai.

A big thank you to Dick Byres who ran the training session and Willy Silk for organising the training.

The Darling Downs Regional Association Croquet Tournament was conducted from 18 February to 12 March 2023 at Laurel Bank club. The Rene Cole Trophy for Association Croquet was won by Jacky Lynch. The other divisions were played also at Laurel Bank and Margaret Dickinson came second in division 4.

The Golf Croquet singles comp was played on 10 March. Tier 1 was played at Laurel Bank and was won by Neville Gray of Ipswich. Tier 2 comp was played at TCC and Max Beattie from Toowoomba Croquet Club came as the winner in the tier 2 competition.

The Golf Doubles comp was played over 11-12 March at the same venues. With Tier 1 won by Jeremy Taskey and Alison Oatway (Stephens). Tier 2 was won by Narelle and Terry Wright (Coutts Crossing).

The weather was quite hot over the weekend and also we had to put up with heavy rain at times. However, the competitions were considered very successful and all the organisers and volunteers should be congratulated on their efforts during this important event.
