Darling Downs players stay active through chilly weather

Despite chilly weather, croquet players across the Darling Downs have remained active and competitive.

Terry Kearney made his debut at the CAQ AC Men's Singles and performed well, winning his final game. He also showed good form in the Gold Coast Tweed Region Tournament Division 2 Singles, taking top spot after a hard-fought final against Peter Deeth, 13-10. Terry won three of four block games during the event. He also won the Bertram Plate at the Caloundra Classic.

Joy Wright spent an enjoyable two days at the MSOB Ricochet Handicap Singles. Joy also teamed with Marion Stower for a day at the Graceville Golf Doubles.

Addison Matthews from Laurel Bank had a strong performance at the Eildon Belvedere Plaque GC Singles, winning 11 of 14 games. He has also been invited to the Queensland Association Croquet Squad preparing for the 2026 Eire Cup.

In Gateball, Sandra Reynolds and Toni Sheedy from Toowoomba were runners up in the final of the Eildon Gateball Doubles. Toowoomba Croquet Club also competed at the MSOB Gateball competition.

Friendship Days were scheduled for 14 August at Toowoomba Croquet Club, 28 August in Dalby, and 16 October at West Toowoomba. Dalby Croquet Club also hosts an Open Day on the first Sunday of each month at 2pm to encourage new members.
