Coolangatta's Yuni Rowell crowned Australian Women's Association Croquet Champion

Coolangatta recently held a six week training course, run by Kathie Grant and Robert Smillie. This proved most successful and well received by all the attendees. Kathie is to run another six week course at Coolangatta, commencing Tuesday 28th March. This will be covering shots and tactics in A/C and Golf.

Our Golf Pennants team scored their first win on Friday 24th, hopefully with many more to come. The games were played in great spirit and good fun was had by all.

Our major news, however, regards our club member Yuni Rowell. Having recently played in Melbourne, the Australian Women's A/C Championship, Yuni, as she promised herself last year, came home the winner. The Coolangatta Croquet has a history dating back to 1925 where it began as "The Border Croquet Club". Then about 1948, the Border Club separated into The Tweed Croquet Club and the Coolangatta Croquet Club. So you could say, that Yuni Rowell is the FIRST Australian Croquet Champion that we have had in 98 years. CONGRATULATIONS YUNI.

Her Trophy is now on display in our Clubrooms, after a well attended "Victory Lunch" held on Saturday 25th March.
