Coolangatta hosts GCTR tournaments and Ricochet Championships across four divisions

The GCTR Div 3 Singles Tournament was held at Coolangatta CC on Sunday 13 August 2023. The winner was Joy Manning from Burleigh Heads Palm Beach Club. Second place went to Kerry Hopkins from Coolangatta. The presentation was made by Alan Edwards, President of GCTR and the GCTR Tournament Manager.

Over the last two weeks of September, we held the GCTR Ricochet Championships in Divisions 1, 3, and 4. Division 2 was held at the Burleigh Heads Palm Beach club. The Division 1 was hotly contested, with Yuni Rowell (Coolangatta) winning from Dave Luxmoore (Burleigh Heads Palm Beach), and Robert Smillie (Coolangatta) coming in third from Geoff Hull (Wynnum).

The Division 2 for Ricochet was held at Burleigh Heads Palm Beach, and was won by Lorelle Parker from Coolangatta. The Division 3 was won by Greg Porter (Cherry Street) from Steve Scrimegour (Burleigh Heads Palm Beach), with Joy Wright (Laurel Park) in third. The competition was also supported by Val Smith and Wayne McFie from Murwillumbah.

The Division 4 was won by Doug Turner (Coolangatta), with Chris Parker (Burleigh Heads Palm Beach) second and Joy Manning (Burleigh Heads Palm Beach) third.

Overall, the Gold Coast Region's Ricochet Championships was successful for Coolangatta, but good to see entrants from clubs outside GCTR.

Our Club AGM was held on Saturday 30th September, and the results were: President Doug Turner; Vice President Gavin Clarke; Secretary Sharon Langston; Treasurer Peter Singh; Providore Meg Johnston.

We all look forward to another busy successful year.
