Cherry Street players shine in Ricochet, Golf and Northern Rivers titles

Cherry Street Ballina reports Australian Ricochet success, local pennants and club championships, Northern Rivers Area results, and NSW Division 3 Golf titles.

Cherry Street players shine in Ricochet, Golf and Northern Rivers titles

David Scott & Ray Chapman win the Ricochet Open Doubles Australian Championships defeating Peter Freer & Kate McLoughlin 7/4 in the final.They now become dual champions, winners 2023 / 2024.

The boys went through undefeated to take the title with some close results along the way. David was also successful in winning the Plate Division in the Australian Ricochet Singles, with Runner Up Joy Wright Laurel Bank, Toowoomba. Congratulations.

The Clubs Division 3 Pennants team finished 2nd in the Northern Rivers Area Golf Croquet Pennants, all six local clubs participating over a 10 week period. Captain Robbie Allen was delighted with their performance throughout, although a win would have been nice, but to finish second is a credit to the teams performance. Byron Bay were the eventual winners, with Cherry Street a close second. Congratulations all teams. Robyn Poynting and Jim Hannigan recently did battle in the Division 2 Ricochet final, a wonderful final with Robyn winning on the bell 10/9. both players gave their all. Congratulations Robyn & Jim.

Maurie Russell took out the Division 3 Golf Singles with a win over Barbara Wellings in the final. 7/4.

Maurie and Barbara, both treasured members, played exceptionally well, Maurie all smiles after securing his biggest win to date at the Club. Congratulations Maurie & Barbara.

The Northern Rivers Area Golf Tournament held in June was a great success.

Cherry Street players Ray Chapman & David Scott both had success with Ray taking out the Open Singles and combining with David to win the Crusader Cup Open Doubles. Lismore player Phyllis Waters, Mary Hughes Ballina filled the minor placings in the singles, while Mary Hughes & Sharon Daley were Runners Up in the Crusader Cup.

Congratulations to David Scott who has been selected in the NSW Golf Team for the 4th consecutive year, a wonderful achievement for a player that is dedicated and committed to not only his own play but also many hours contributed to Croquet in the Northern Rivers Area. A well deserved selection for a gentleman of Croquet.

The NSW Division 3 Golf Championships were held locally with strong fields in both Doubles & Singles. Doubles : Gary Allan & Robert Batho Nelson Bay 1st, Runner Up Jed Hart & Gerd Modlich Byron Bay. Singles : Robert Batho Nelson Bay 1st Gerd Modlich Byron Bay Runner Up.

Cherry Street Players Results : Jenny Dorward & Margaret Lund winner Z Division Doubles, Jenny 2nd W Div Singles. Debbie Jones & Wendy Quinn Runner Up Y Division, Debbie 6th Plate Div Singles. Jim Hannigan Runner up Plate Division Libby Hudson 3rd W Division. A great success for the local area hosting the titles. Congratulations to all players that took part in the tournament. Special thanks to all Volunteers, Referees, all Local Clubs, Sponsors and everyone that helped throughout the carnival. Everyone's help was appreciated in the smooth running of the NSW Division 3 Golf Croquet Titles.
