Cherry Street Ballina hosts All Abilities and high school students
Cherry Street Ballina looks forward to 2023 with record championship entries, hosts students and All Abilities groups, and welcomes NSW under-21 player Ethan Gumbrell.
With the Christmas holidays behind us, and members getting back to playing, the club is looking forward to another top year in 2023.
It was a busy year for Ballina Cherry Street Croquet Club. Championships have finished with a record number of entries. The 2023 tournament calendar has been set out and no doubt many club members will be planning to enter events throughout the year.
BCSCC also hosted “All Abilities” groups as well as students from two local high schools. Hopefully these will become regular events in 2023.

Cherry Street Ballina (Cont.) David Scott & Ray Chapman will both play in the Australian President’s Golf Croquet Eights in Melbourne in early February to start of the tournament calendar. Both have also been selected for the NSW Golf Croquet Squad.
Recently the club played host to NSW under 21 representative player Ethan Gumbrell. Members enjoyed watching Ethan playing some exhibition games against Club Captain Ray Chapman and Club Secretary David Scott.

Some members are currently playing Advantage Golf Croquet in readiness for CNSW and club championships. The NSW Advantage Golf Croquet Championships will be staged in the Northern Rivers Area in late June- another big win for Croquet in the area. All six clubs Alstonville, Ballina, Cherry Street, Lismore, Casino, Byron Bay and a host of players from numerous clubs from NSW, QLD, VIC are expected to take part.
Our Twilight Social Golf Croquet, played in the cool, on Tuesday evenings is most welcomed by many players.
A few members along with club Captain Ray Chapman who is also the HUB representative on the CNSW Board, travelled, in mid January, to Coutts Crossing, one of the new HUBS which have been established to participate in an introduction to Gateball workshop.
