Champions celebration at Bribie Island

CHAMPIONS, CHAMPIONS, CHAMPIONS!!

If you had driven past the Bribie Island Croquet Club a few weeks ago you would have seen tables set out for almost 50 people. There was a lot of laughter as everyone tucked into a free lunch and enjoying a glass of wine too! Not the usual Croquet afternoon. Was this some sort of celebration you may ask ? Well yes it was. This was a BBQ lunch for the members to say thank you for a very successful competition season.

The Club has many internal competitions in all Croquet disciplines. There is Association, Golf Croquet, Ricochet and Gateball. There are far too many for me to mention and some members have had their photo in this magazine many times ! I cannot possibly include everyone. These photos below are just two of the many Highlights of the afternoon.

There are many competitions held with the Sunshine Coast Regional Croquet Clubs (SCRCC). This is against the other Croquet Clubs in the Sunshine Coast region. Plate for those who may not have been playing for long; Shield for those with more experience and Pennant for the experienced players. Plate just missed the championship by 1 hoop, Pennant played exceptionally well against State players but the stars this year were the Shield Team. Not only did they win the competition, they were way ahead. They were focused, determined and could not be beaten. Well done Sandy Edwards, Shelly Moar, Jan Sampson, Sid and Lyndell Goodier, Dolly Taylor, Maggie Lawson and Kathy Vincent.
