Caloundra hosts State Gateball and fills the top three in 14 plus GC doubles

Caloundra hosted the State Gateball Teams and Doubles Championships from 9 to 11 November, with 11 teams and 24 doubles pairings. Gateball Captain Robyn Brown marked eight courts and worked with State Gateball Coordinator Barbara Northcott. After ten round-robin games, the teams event was won by Kew-W-W-C-S, a team of four interstate players plus Julia Tai from Southport. Rockhampton was runner up.

Lee Wentworth (Southport) and Kaelan Sweatman (Moreton Bay) won the doubles final against Philip Rowland and Alan Beeson from Eildon. Bruce McAlister provided feedback to referees and referees in training.

Caloundra hosted the SCRCC 14 plus GC doubles on 11 September. Sam Oaten and Cathy McBrien won, Frank Guerreiro and Ron Duggleby were runners up, and Alison Oatway and Richard Walsh won the playoff for third. Murray Tinker and Carole Atkinson were thanked.
