Bundaberg wins Wide Bay Golf Pennants after a six-year wait

Bundaberg Croquet Club members recently competed in the Wide Bay Golf Croquet Pennants. The regional teams competing were Sunnyside, Hervey Bay, Point Lookout and Bundaberg. The final result was very close and only decided when Bundaberg and Sunnyside played the last two games of the day. Bundaberg has not been successful in winning the Regional Golf Pennants since 2016 so it was smiles all round when we were presented with the Shield for 2022. Well done to the Bundaberg GC Team.

The CAQ Event played at Bundaberg on 11-12 June was the Association Division 3/4 Singles for 2022. An enjoyable weekend was had by the eight players who braved the cold weather conditions to contest this event. Congratulations to the winner, Darryl Bell (Sunnyside) and to Vicki Cooper (Bundaberg) as the runner up. Congratulations also to Roy Pemberton (Bundaberg) for winning the Consolation Block and Jenny Campbell (Hervey Bay) as runner up. A big thank you to all of the players for entering and making this event a success.

Joy Boys, Russell Davis and Del Smith along with our stalwart referee Jenny Lee, all from Bundaberg Croquet Club, travelled to participate in the random draw, inaugural Wide Bay Burnett Regional Golf Croquet Doubles held at Hervey Bay Croquet Club. Del Smith (Bundaberg) and her partner Oliver Beverly (Pt. Lookout) were pleased to finish the day as Runners up in the H/cap 3 - 8 Division.

Gordon and Vicki Cooper and Glen Stronach (Bundaberg) along with Darryl Bell (Sunnyside) were the team who proudly represented the Wide Bay Burnett Region at the Inter-Region Pennants 2022 for Association to celebrate the Centennial of Croquet Queensland held at Wynnum. Well done everyone.

The Rhonda Lang Regional Ricochet Doubles was held at Hervey Bay and the chilly weather conditions did not deter Joy Boys, Del Smith and Glen Stronach along with Jenny Lee (Referee) from travelling to compete. Congratulations to Glen Stronach (Bundaberg) and his partner Bev Hamer (Pt. Lookout) for coming in 2nd.

Troy McCallum and Gordon Cooper from Bundaberg Croquet Club played in the Gibson Memorial Medal held at Caloundra. The weekend resulted in Troy finishing as Runner-up. Congratulations and well played Troy.
