Bundaberg hosts the Laurie Smith Doubles and welcomes new member Peter Woodland

During the time since the last newsletter we have been kept busy with a variety of activities happening at the club. We are pleased to say that several social clubs from local schools, local businesses and this year the American Car Club have had a game of Croquet as their end of year outing. We, at the Bundaberg club, have enjoyed the opportunity to be able to expose our great sport to the wider community. Two of our members, Glen Stronach and Del Smith have ventured to try the emerging code of Gateball. Gateball is relatively new to the Wide Bay Burnett Region with Pt. Lookout being the only club at present to offer the opportunity to learn this code. Both Glen and Del have enjoyed travelling to Pt. Lookout to participate in the training sessions.

Peter Woodland, our newest member, recently travelled to play in the Gala Day Golf Croquet Doubles held at West Toowoomba Croquet Club. Peter and his partner Bruce were the Orange Block Winners. Well played Peter and Bruce.

Bundaberg Croquet Club hosted the Regional Laurie Smith Association Doubles Event on November 6th with players from Hervey Bay, Pt. Lookout and Bundaberg Clubs competing. Congratulations to Wayne Lusk (Pt. Lookout) and Roy Pemberton (Bundaberg) for winning the Laurie Smith for 2022.

The CAQ Ricochet Open Doubles Event that was originally scheduled to be held at Bundaberg on 22nd and 23rd October had to be postponed due to wet weather. This event was rescheduled and will now be held on 8th and 9th December. Good luck to each of the teams competing in the Open Ricochet Doubles. The members of the Bundaberg Club wish the entire Croquet Community a Blessed Festive Season and we look forward to spending a Happy and Healthy 2023 with everyone.
