Bundaberg honours Margaret Webley and celebrates 125 years of croquet
Bundaberg marks the Margaret Webley Event and celebrates 125 years since the club was established in Queens Park in 1900.
Bundaberg opened with a vale for Margaret Webley, founder of Ricochet, who passed away aged 93 a few weeks before the event named for her.
The Margaret Webley Event was played on 24 and 25 July in perfect conditions. Ricochet winners were Bob Brydon (Bundaberg) and Penny Wilson (Point Lookout), with Frank Meek (Isis) and Robert Wilson (Point Lookout) runners up. Golf winners were Wayne Lusk (Point Lookout) and Jan Smith (Sunnyside), with Russell Davis (Bundaberg) and Karen Landry (Point Lookout) runners up.

Bundaberg also celebrated 125 years of croquet. The club believes it was established in 1900 in Queens Park and moved to Alexandra Park in 1909. A clubhouse built in 1934 is still in use, with many improvements, and a fourth lawn was laid in 1990. Current and former members, Bundaberg's Mayor, Patron, Past Presidents, Life Members and Region Representatives attended the 6 September celebration.
