Bribie Island's doubles final goes all the way to the last hoop
Bribie Island Croquet Club's October news: a doubles final won at sheep station, Steve Bickley 8th at the GC Nationals, Ricochet winners and dates for the months ahead.
e seem to be rocketing towards the end of the year – how this year has flown!! Most competition is now winding down, although AC is in full swing which will keep Greg Whymark, in particular, busy.

The GC Nationals are done & dusted for another year, and congratulations go to Steve Bickley who competed in the Men's singles & finished a very credible 8th out of 32 in just his second year of competing at this level. Steve was also reserve for the Queensland team in the Interstate Shield. Well done also to Jenee Molyneux who produced many wins in the gruelling Interstate Shield despite hobbling with a broken bone in her foot.

On the local scene, the Star Mallets Doubles Competition went well and produced one of the closest and most exciting finals between Jill Cole & Robert Kidd (Eildon) and Lyn Beh & Dennis Green (Bribie).
Sadly, Lyn & Dennis were beaten at sheep station with an incredible hoop from Robert Kidd. It was a great game to watch. A big thank you for our sponsor Star Mallets and to all those who turned up to watch as well as prepare and officiate for supporting the event.

Our AGM will be held on Friday November 27 at 12 noon.
Finally, have you put your name down for the Halloween Gala Day (Saturday October 31) & got your outfits ready??? It will be a fun day with good prizes, so get your entry in.
Joan Gleeson, President
10 pairs of golf enthusiasts took part in this event from Eildon, Caloundra, Toombul and Bribie clubs. All games were exceedingly competitive and the winning pair in each group was very hard to predict.
Each pair played 5 games with the winners of each block playing a final.
This game between Eildon's Jill Cole & Robert Kidd against Bribie's Lyn Beh and Dennis Green was 6 hoops all after hoop 12.

Sheep's Station was a nail biter. As soon as one player got a ball near the hoop, the opponent would ensure that it was hit away.
After several attempts, Dennis had his yellow ball directly in front of the hoop. It was now win or lose for Eildon. Robert Kidd's black ball was on the edge near hoop 2.
Robert took aim, roqueted Dennis' ball away and the black ball went through the hoop to win this competition. It was a thrilling end to a wonderful competition.
Thank you, Terminator Mallets, for making this competition possible.
