Wynnum's Ron Schodel defends Golden Mallet Mixed Doubles title

Wynnum's Ron Schodel paired up with Gaye Pitman (Stephens) to successfully defend their title in the RPM Golden Mallet Mixed Doubles at Southport on 25 March. Both are low handicap players and had to give away many extra turns to their opposition.

It was a great achievement to win 4 games in their Block, taking them through to the semi final, which they won 3-1. They then took the final 6-5 against Peter Spinks (Hervey Bay) and Beryl Turner (Southport). Congratulations Ron.

Geoff Hull and Liz Fleming paired up to be top seeds in Block A. Again, as low handicap players they gave away 8 extra turns in most games and did well to win some of their games.

Both played very well, however the extra turns combined with 45 minute games proved too difficult to overcome.
