Wynnum players take on the GC Ipswich Cup

layers with handicaps of 8 and above were invited to compete in the GC Ipswich Cup at Ipswich Croquet Club on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Wynnum Club was well represented by four members: Lorraine and Barry Beattie, and Heidi and Nathan McGrath.

The day was extremely hot, and the slower court conditions proved challenging for our players. However, the welcoming atmosphere and hospitality of the Ipswich members made for an enjoyable experience.

For Heidi and Nathan, this was their first-ever tournament, a daunting challenge. Despite a nervous start, they soon found their rhythm, playing some solid croquet and representing Wynnum well.

Lorraine and Barry entered the competition as defending champions and finished the day with three wins. Unfortunately, they missed out on the final on net hoops, placing second in their block of five.

Well done to all four players for their efforts and sportsmanship throughout the tournament!
