Wynnum members compete in ACA Bronze Medal (Qld)

ACA Bronze Medal (Qld)

Our Wynnum club members, Gordon Giles and Geoff Hull, were contestants in the ACA Bronze Medal (Qld) on 26th-28th April 2024 at Headland Buderim Croquet Club.

The Headland Buderim courts were in good condition, and the days were hot and muggy with lots of rain forecast.

The 8 players were vying for the honour of competing for the Gold and Silver Medal in Queensland in August. The ranked competitors were Gabby Spencer, Bob Martin, Gordon Giles, Addison Matthews, Mary McMahon, Geoff Hull, Ross Rillie, and Casey De-Vene.

Each match was a best of 3 games, with each competitor playing all seven of the other competitors over three days. The winner, Ross Rillie (Headland Buderim), had 5 match wins and 6 net games. Gabby Spencer (Southport) came in 2nd with 5 match wins and 1 net game.

Congratulations to the winner, Ross Rillie, and we wish him well in Queensland in August 2024.

We would like to thank the Headland Buderim Club for the use of their courts, and the volunteers who include the tournament manager, hoop setters, line markers and supporters. Our thanks also to the referees Cloreen, Deirdre, John, Steve, Nigel and Edwin for giving up their time.
