Wynnum hosts Day 1 of CAQ Open Singles Championship

ynnum Croquet Club hosted Day 1 of the CAQ Open Singles Championship, which was open to any registered Australian and International player. The event raised a lot of interest and was well subscribed with entries, so it was split between two clubs: Wynnum and Eildon (situated at Woody Point).

Play on Day 1 at Wynnum was excellent, with some amazingly accurate roquets played and several amazing jump shots made, especially from Ian Reed of Southport.

Day 2 will see the winners of the 7 games played today continue tomorrow at Wynnum, and the others will play off for The Plate at Eildon Croquet Club.

If you are interested in seeing some great croquet being played, then Sunday 3rd March will be a great opportunity to see some fabulous competition. The Pam Shepherd Trophy will be awarded to the overall winner on Sunday afternoon at Wynnum Croquet Club.

We must thank our referees Liz and Judy for their great work and the endless miles they walked around 4 courts all day, and also our wonderful kitchen helpers who kept the players fed and watered throughout the day. Well done team.
