Wynnum hosts 2015 Australian Gateball Championship

What a fantastic weekend of croquet we hosted at our club this past weekend. We were lucky enough to see great strategic play from all teams in the Australian Gateball Championship for 2015.

The final was held late Sunday afternoon between two Chinese teams. One of the non-playing coaches was very vocal in his instructions to his players, and even though we couldn't understand what he said, we could gather a lot from his intonation! We all lined the court with chairs to watch the teams battle it out.

Once the winning team was decided, we had the presentations and farewell speeches. As well as representatives from Croquet Queensland and the National Gateball representatives, our club patron Cr Peter Cumming was on hand to close the event, and the trophy and medals were handed out. We congratulate all players for competing, it was great to meet you all, and we congratulate the winning team and the runners up.

We also thank our own club members for helping out over the 3 days in the kitchen, on the BBQ, with the presentations, cleaning, stacking and unstacking, dismantling, purchasing etc etc, which all helped in making this event so successful. Thanks to you all.
