Wynnum elects new committee at AGM

ur Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday the 28th November and a new committee was duly elected.
Our new team consists of President John van Barneveld, Vice President Deirdre Giles, Secretary Aina Johns and Treasurer Cameron Unwin. Our extra committee member is Ann Brooks.
The outgoing Secretary and newly elected President John both thanked Past President Liz Fleming for her huge contribution to our club and acknowledged the hard work that she had put in over the past few years. Thanks Liz.
Our club Patron Peter Cummings attended the meeting and accepted the nomination as Club Patron for 2021.
Meates and Pickvance win Wynnum Mixed Doubles Championship
Wynnum Croquet Club Mixed Doubles Championship 2020
Play commenced at 8am on Sunday 22 November 2020 for our final club competition, the GC Mixed Doubles. Six doubles pairs nominated, so it was a round robin draw with five 45-minute games played by each pair. There was no nominated referee, as three of the competitors were experienced referees, as were the other competitors.
It was encouraging to see that two members, Anna and Les Dawson (relatively new to competition), took up the challenge to compete.
It was a "tight" contest. Karen Meates and Richard Pickvance had won five games, as did Deirdre and Gordon Giles, so it came down to who had won the most net hoops.
The doubles champions were Karen Meates and Richard Pickvance, having won 14 net hoops to Deirdre and Gordon's 9 net hoops. Well done!
Our archivist Phyllis Pledger was there, as usual, to photograph the winners and the group of players, and Aina Johns managed the event. Thanks to all who participated.
